About Us
Who We Are
We created RDCS in Barnsley to offer counselling to adults who are often missed by existing services – people facing long NHS waiting lists, those who do not meet thresholds for secondary care, and those who simply cannot afford typical private therapy fees.
Our Barnsley counselling service is built on the belief that everyone deserves the chance to talk to a trained professional in a safe, non‑judgemental environment.
Our Mission and values
- Our mission is to make counselling in Barnsley more accessible, more affordable, and more effective.
- We aim to remove the most common barriers to therapy: limited access, high costs, and a lack of continuity or depth in support.
- Our work is rooted in person‑centred values – empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard – alongside strong ethical standards and evidence‑based practice.
- We understand that financial circumstances, life experiences, and personal responsibilities differ, so our counselling approach is flexible, human, and responsive to individual needs.
Why RDCS EXISTS
Across the UK, and in Barnsley specifically, many people are facing long waits for mental health support, interruptions in care, or short blocks of therapy that end before meaningful progress is made.
We saw that too many people were left in the gap between overstretched NHS services and expensive private counselling, often feeling they had nowhere to turn.
RDCS was created to bridge this gap by offering timely, low‑cost counselling delivered by qualified professionals who understand both the clinical and human sides of mental health.
By positioning ourselves as a community‑based counselling service in Barnsley, we are able to respond directly to local needs and continuously adapt as the community evolves.
